ソウルコミコンでの8/4(金)のマッツのパネルセッションの発言を書き起こして和訳しました。最終日8/6(日)の分は後日まとめますこちら。
動画はソウルコミコン公式Facebookで観れるので未見の方はぜひ！マッツは6:30辺りから登場します。日曜の分も既にupされています。途中からしか写ってないですが。。
一通り内容確認しつつ書き起こしたけど、急いでたし母国語でもないので5%くらいは間違いあると思います。すみません。気付いたら直します。
以下、動画流しながら英語と日本語を確認できるよう、部分毎に英日併記していきます。英語学習にどうぞ。

Mads: Hello, Seoul! Hello, Korea! I’m very, very pleased to be here, see you all, and I have seen a lot of fannibals out there.
（こんにちは、ソウル！こんにちは、韓国！ここに来て、みんなに会えてとても、とても嬉しい。そしてそこらへんにたくさんのファンニバルが見えるね）
Mads: So, let’s get started!
（じゃ、始めよう！）
Mads: Yeah, I mean this, I’ve only been here for one day, but so far I like everything I’ve seen, every person I’ve met, and everything I’ve eaten, so I feel pretty good.
（うん、僕はまだここに来て1日しか経ってないけど、今のところ僕が見たもの、会った人たち、食べたもののすべてが気に入ってる。だからかなりいい気分だ）
Mads: Okay, I’ve got it. Yeah, I haven’t done that many comicons, I’ve done a few in Europe, one in America, and I had a chance to come to Korea as I was invited. And I always wanted to come here and it was just a perfect opportunity. And I also think that it was quite surprising that it is the first year because there’s such a big pop culture in Korea, and I hope this will go on forever.

Mads: I haven’t moved. I’m still.. I still live in Denmark. But I got a chance to work in American films, and I said “Yes, thank you,” but I took both. So I haven’t moved at all. I’m still back home.

Mads: I don’t decide what I play. It might be a surprise. It’s a director and the script which decide what I play. But I’ve done lots of good guys as well in my life. But in America, I played a lot of villains. But I don’t see them, villains, if you take Hannibal, I see him as a… misunderstood person.
（僕が演じるものは僕が決めるんじゃない。もしかしたら驚かれるかもしれないけど。僕が演じるものを決めるのは監督と脚本です。僕の人生では、たくさんのいいヤツも同様にやってきた。でもアメリカでは、僕は多くの悪役を演じた。でも僕は彼ら、悪役たちをそうは見ていない。例えばハンニバルなら、僕は彼を…誤解されている人間だと思っている）

Mads: Well, maybe, right now, but in the morning, I don’t like a villain.

Mads: I was very honoured. Since I was a very little boy, Star Wars has been around, has been part of my upbringing, way before I wanted to be an actor. So, it was still around when I was this age and they offered to be part of it, that was absolutely fantastic, and also being the father of the Death Star is kind of iconic. So I was very pleased for that.

Mads: It’s about a man who has stranded on the North pole. We’ll meet him but he’s being there for nine months. It’s a story about, um… a male surviving, but not alive, he’s not living, he’s just surviving. And things happen to him in the film, of course, some traumatic stuff,
but it’s all about what is the difference between “surviving” and “living.”

Mads: Yes, I’m talking with the people who are doing Chaos Walking. I think it’s a very, very interesting story. And whether [it’s] a villain or not is remaining.. secret I’d say. In the complexed world, Chaos Walking, I don’t think there are any bad guys or good guys. And there are people trying to survive in the universe that is quite different from ours.

Mads: [Shrugs with smile] I don’t know. It could seem you like it, but I can’t promise that.

Mads: No, not really. I think I always.. I go by myself for an hour and focus because it’s the only thing. I always carry one thing that the character has. Something in this pocket that people would never see. And that’s very different from character to character.
（いいえ、あんまり。僕はいつも…僕は1時間一人になって集中するんだ。だってそれが唯一の方法[thingの意訳]だから。僕はいつもその役が持っているものを1つ持ち歩いている。このポケットに、誰も見ることがないだろう物をね。それは役によってかなり異なるんだ）

Host: Have you fought with a guilty pleasure when you act as a bad, bad person?

Mads: Yeah, every time, every time. I think it’s one of these.. heavens for an actor, did you know? Being an actor, you’re allowed to do wicked, wicked things, evil, evil things. I can enjoy it. And it is good to stay on the screen and you don’t take it with you back home. And we have the opportunity to do tricky things that you would’ve never dreamed to do in your real life.

Mads: Yeah, but the interesting thing is the face of villain has to be.. very gentle face, it has to be soft. And then, you can be evil inside. So this is my.. this is my villain face.

Host (Interpreter): Do you have any own.. your criteria to arrange, to choose a movie or film.. or a character?

Mads: Yeah. The criteria? Of character..? Anything I prefer? Is that your question?

Host: Is there any special reason to choose the characters on the movies?
（司会者: 映画の役を選ぶのに何か特別な理由はありますか？[ということです]）
Mads: Oh, yup. Yes. It’s rarely because of the character. It’s often because of the story. If I like the story, then secondly I’d look at the character, if I like that. But the story is the most important. If I think it’s beautiful, [brutal?], or radical story and I fall in love with it, then I’ll definitely go for them, for that job. So it’s more often the story than character. But.. well, then, they have to make sense, the characters. I like the two sides on a character. It’s not only good or not only bad, there are some, you know, some cracks in there and that makes things interesting.

Host: You have acted in various cases. What is your favorite to act?

Mads: It’s a very brutal question [laughter] because there are so many characters I really love. Some of the films I love for different reasons, some of the characters I love for different reasons. I was very, very happy to play Hannibal. Hannibal is one of my favourite characters. But I have also played some Danish things. I’m not sure if you have seen it, some crazy comedies. One called “the Green Butchers,” and I played a very, very annoying, irritating character and I kind of love it. I think it’s great.

Host: What was your toughest character and why?
（一番タフだった役はなんですか？そしてそれはなぜですか？）
Mads: Well, actually, the two characters we’ve talked about just now, Hannibal and the guy from “the Green Butchers,” are both very, very difficult characters, in the sense the TV show, it’s moving so fast we get a lot of scenes very late with work of many, many hours. So you have very limited time to do the very, very difficulties. So, that was tough in that way. The other character was tough in the way that was different because we’d never done anything like it before. It was almost like theater and film. We were afraid that everyone was going to hate us, so it was a difficult, difficult job, but we’ve pulled it off.
（えぇと、実際、たった今話したその2つの役、ハンニバルと「フレッシュ・デリ」の男が、どちらもとてもとても難しい役だった。TV番組の方は流れが非常に早くて、何時間もかけて作業した多くのシーンがかなり遅くなった。とても困難なことをするのにとても短い時間しかない。そういう意味でタフだった。もう一つの役は、僕たちが今までに似たようなことをしたことがなかったから、別の意味でタフだった。それはほとんど劇場と映画のようなものだった。僕たちはみんなが僕たちを嫌うのではないかと心配していて、だからそれはとても難しい仕事だった。でも僕たちはやり遂げた）

Mads: But I’d also say, oh sorry, in general, characters are not so super difficult if it’s well-written. It might look as if it’s really hard, might have been harder, but it’s not so difficult if it’s well-written. If it’s not well-written, that would be very difficult and I have been very lucky not to meet so much in the past.

Host: How did you take the cruel scenes in Hannibal?

Mads: I loved them. I mean, we have to understand Hannibal is the reversed human being. He is a fallen angel. So he sees beauty everywhere we see horror. So obviously he had a great time in that show.

Mads: [Trys to look back his back and then body] Yes, I exercise. My body’s in. It’s not like a crazy gym. I go to gym if there’s nothing else. But I drive a decent bike a lot. I play a lot of tennis. I play a lot of football and handball.. Anything I can do if I have the time. Unfortunately, I always get injured, so I have to choose when I would do that, but I love sports and I do it because it’s just fun.

Mads: I don’t think my daughter says that I’m sexy. I don’t think any daughter says that about her parents.. No, but that’s nice to hear [laughter] It’s really something you can’t choose to yourself. Other people have to decide whether you’re sexy or not. But thank you so much and also apparently thank you to my daughter.

Host: Is there any Marvel character you would like to play?

Mads: I think maybe… Since I was a little kid, the one that I identified the most when I was a kid, and I think most boys do, is the Spiderman. And obviously, because he is skinny, he is not big, but he’s fast and he has a big mouth.. So I think all identified the Spiderman when we were kids. So that’s the one I want to do, but I’m not sure you want to see fifty years old Spiderman, so.. [shrugs with smile]

Host: You have played as an actor for about twenty years. Do you have any plan to produce any movie or TV show, drama?
（司会者: あなたは役者として約20年間演じて来られました。何か映画やTV番組、ドラマなどをプロデュースする予定はありますか？）
Mads: No. I have no plan on producing. It’s somebody else is much better at than I am. So far so good, I’ve been very fortunate with a lot of projects I have been in. I have a lot to see,
I would rewrite with the writers, will work on it for two months. So I’ve always been fulfilled in that part as well as been in that part of the project, not just as an actor. And so far I’m happy. But obviously if people are really fed up with me, and my face, and I might start to rethink it.

Mads: Oh, you know, I might have been lying a little. I’m not really good at cooking. What I am very good at.. I’m good at chopping face, you know. That’s what you see in the show obviously. We had a fantastic cook. We have a crew to make all the dishes and she was wonderful. And it tasted fantastic. So, but I didn’t get to do any of the stocks that actually tastes good. I just chopped the rock. But if I cook anything, it is actually an Asian food, you know, simple Thai food, chopping, chopping, chopping.. putting them in a bowl, and [in the oven].

Mads: Oh, it sounds like a safer line I hope I’ve got. I absolutely love Korean food. I also love Thai food and I love Japanese food. Actually I love a lot of Asian food. So maybe I should move but.. I love spicy food and I love the way you cook in Korea, where it’s a little bit in everything, not a bowl thing.

Host: There are so many kind of spicy food in Korea.

Mads: Yes, there’s a lot? I know. All the kimchies and all the.. everything’s spicy. And I like it. And the good thing about that.. means that you have to drink beer. So, it’s a good combination.

Host: Do you have any pets?
（司会: ペットは飼っていますか？）
Mads: I don’t have any pets. I used to have a dog when I was a young boy, and my children had a cat, so right now we don’t have any pets, but I do like dogs. I would like to have a dog. But I’m traveling too much and sometimes I’d have to say it’s not safe to leave him alone for a long time because.. And I also would like to have a blue whale, but that’ll also take a long space.

Mads: Thank you!

Mads: Oh, that’s a problem. Um.. I think I’m very “dedicated” to what I would do. [shrugs a bit] It’s boring, but I think it’s true.
（あぁ、それは困ったな。うーん…僕は僕がすることに対してとても”dedicated [一身を捧げる]”だと思う。…おもしろくない答えだよね、でも僕はそれは本当だと思う）
Host (Int.): Do you have any plan you share love, you will ??[deceit??]
（通訳: あなたは愛を分かち合う予定はありますか？）
[以下、司会者さん通訳さんとマッツとの捉え方の違いによるやりとり。
司会者さん通訳さんはdedicatedを広義のloveと紐付けて解釈している。
マッツはdedicatedを”仕事などに真摯”という意味で使っており
名詞のloveは家族や恋人といったごく親しいもの間のものに使う単語と捉えている様子]
Mads: Share what?
（何を分かち合うって？）
Mads: Share love? What way?
（愛情を？どういう意味で？）
Host (Int.): Do you have any plan, to share your love, with others.
（通訳: あなたは何か予定はありますか、あなたの愛情を分かち合う予定、誰かと）
Host: Because you said you’re dedicated person, is there any plan to share..?
（司会: というのも、あなたがあなたはdedicatedな人間だと仰ったから。何かシェアする予定はありますか？）
Mads: Oh. ..No, I mean I think I will share most of my love with my family.
（ああ……。いいえ。僕の愛情は専ら僕の家族とシェアするつもりだから…）
Audience: [Mixed with booing and praising] [観客席からは最初ブーイング、後から褒める声が聞こえる]
Mads: And I think there is no dedication of course. I’m talking about my work. And I hopefully has a share to you and that will be.. my kind of love for.. for you guys.
（それに、そこ[家庭]にはもちろん”献身”というものはないと思う。僕は仕事について語ってるんだ。僕は君たちにも分け与える部分があるといいんだけど。その部分というのは…僕の愛情みたいなもので…その、君たちへのね）[“love”はファンとシェアするものという認識がなかったからか、言うのを少し躊躇われてる（というか、言いながら照れてるような…！）]
Host: You are here, it’s been you dedicated?
（司会: あなたはここにいますけど、これはdedicatedなあなたですか？）
Mads: Yes. I was invited. So, both.
（えぇ。僕は招待されたから。だから両方）
Host (Int.): So lastly, would you share how you have[had] fun today?
（通訳: 最後に、今日はどう楽しまれたか教えていただけますか？）
Mads: It’s been a wonderful day. I have met all you fantastic Korean fans. And we have luckily two more days left here. And tonight, I will go try.. what it’s called, the chicken and beer?
（今日は素晴らしい1日でした。君たち、韓国の素晴らしいファンの方達にお会いできた。幸運なことにまだ2日間残っている。今夜、僕はあれを試してみるよ。何て言ったかな、チキンとビールの？）
Host: Chimaek.
（司会: チメ）
Mads: Chimaek. And [I’m not coward to do it.] It’s always an issue when you come to a place that far away, you want to spend at least 2-3 weeks, and unfortunately I only have three days working most of the time. But I am definitely inspired to come visit again because there are so much I want to see.
（チメ。食べてみるの怖くないよ[←これ聞き取り間違えてそう]。遠く離れた場所に来て、少なくとも2,3週間は滞在したいときにいつでも問題になることだけど、残念なことに僕には、ほとんどを仕事で費やすたったの3日しかない。でも見たいものがたくさんあるから、僕は絶対にまた戻ってきたいと思っている）
Host: Actually, I really would like to be with you when you try to have a chimaek.
（司会: あなたがチメを食べるときに、ほんとに一緒にいたいと思います）

ちなみにマッツはこの後ドラッグストアで目撃され
土曜夜にはレストランとクラブで目撃されてました。チメ食べたかなー。
個人的には、マッツが最後にしている指ハートではなく両手で作るハートを作る時のマッツの表情と姿勢が一番ツボです(*´Д`)
